2nd Bifff Participatif

Under the title BIFFF PARTICIPATIFFF, the festival is organizing several cultural participation and education activities. A first section consists of workshops in which three groups of youngsters from Brussels with no or little film experience make a fantastic short film under the guidance of three experienced filmmakers: Joanne Mitchell, Stéphanie Joalland and Anders Klarlund. They can also count on the help of Belgian special effects specialists such as Squidlab and the HELHa GC Academy. The results of the workshops will be screened at BIFFF on Thursday, April 17, at 4:30 p.m. We’ll also screen two shorts made by young Uruguayans in the context of a workshop that the BIFFF and BIF Market co-organized with ACAU and Air Europa.

Then, secondly, we’re also putting together three special screenings aimed at audiences that are more difficult to reach. For example, during our Born After… Scary Movie Day, on Thursday, April 10, we will host a screening of 2073. This docu-fiction paints a bleak picture of the future in which the seeds of evil – given current events – are being planted today. The screening will be followed by a conversation between Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia, three associations – Rise for Climate, BRAL and 11.11.11 – and those with hopefully still the most future ahead of them: youngsters! A second screening will take place in collaboration with the festival Elles Tournent. On Friday, April 11, we will co-present Fury, followed by a panel discussion on the world seen through the eyes of women. And we don’t forget our senior audience with the screening of The Grandson on Tuesday, April 15, followed by a conference on cyber security, in collaboration with the Brussels Ouderenplatform, Samen Toujours and Digibeet.
