KRAZY HOUSE (2024)

Krazy House is an American sitcom from the 90’s in 4:3 format and with a laugh track as a stand-in for a live audience. Bernie Christian is a deeply religious goody two shoes with a self-knit Jesus sweater. It’s up to his wife Eva, a chronically stressed businesswoman, to keep the family financially afloat. Their daughter is the only virgin in high school and their son rebels against the continuous zealotry with weird chemistry experiments. When Bernie’s clumsiness results in bursting water pipes, God seems to send them a deus ex machina in the person of handyman Pjotr and his two sons. The grubby Russians transform the house into a block of Swiss cheese in no time. They’re obviously looking for something, but even Bernie’s other cheek turning has limits. Time to go full screen in 3, 2, 1… for some ecstatic outbursts of godless bloody violence!
NEW KIDS is a cult TV-series and two features from the Netherlands that excels in hilariously derailing chaos. And that’s clearly what directors Steffen Haars and Flip Van der Kuil are bringing to BIFFF with their most international production to date. You can see the cast had a blast when shooting the movie. Nick Frost (SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ) gives the last temptation of Christ a run for its money as Bernie, Alicia Silverstone (CLUELESS, BLAST FROM THE PAST) gets the mother of all burnouts as Eva and Belgium’s very own Jan Bijvoet is excellent as pater familias Pjotr.
