It has taken centuries, but finally one of the last marginalized minorities is ready to enter the modern world through the portal of social acceptance: vampires. If you can’t stand spoilers, close your eyes for a moment: sunlight does not kill vampires! This myth was created by vampires themselves to make it easier to remain hidden from their arch-enemy, humans. Since time immemorial, humans have been using crucifixes, wooden stakes, and silver bullets to do away with these bloodsuckers. SILENCIO finally shows us what history looks like from the vampire’s perspective. In the early Middle Ages, for example, the plague caused a severe shortage of healthy prey. The AIDS epidemic at the end of the 20th century also brought them a great deal of misery and sorrow. With this film, the silence that has shrouded vampires for far too long, is finally broken!
