THE HOME (2025)

Thirtysomething Joel has to return to his hometown to help his mother Monika. After suffering a heart attack, during which she was clinically dead for several minutes, she must now move to a retirement home to get the necessary care. However, Joel’s relief is short-lived. Shortly after her arrival, Monika begins acting strangely. Joel and Nina, his former best friend and Monika’s caregiver at the home, try to help her. But they are confronted by pure evil. Mattias Johansson Skoglund’s THE HOME is a subtle piece of horror. It is a disturbing story that gets under your skin and makes you think about aging, grief, guilt, friendship and the fear of what awaits us in the eternal darkness.
